Alessandro BORGO Team BARHAIN - Victorious wins
The 2026 Grand Prix Claudy Criquielion was won by the young Italian rider Alessandro Borgo (Bahrain Victorious). He outsprinted his breakaway companions to claim his first ever victory as a professional.
Race summary:
With 16 kilometres to go, the leading group of around twenty riders broke apart. Four riders managed to break away at the front and maintain a sufficient lead over the peloton. In the final sprint, Britain’s Fred Wright launched his attack thinking he had the race won, but was overtaken at the very last moment on his left by Alessandro Borgo. The day’s hot favourite and the world’s best sprinter, Tim Merlier, had to settle for leading out the peloton’s sprint for 5th place.
